<br>This version is being released for releasing sake more than because it is a complete version.
<br>My name is Dan Walters, I live in the UK and am 18 as of the date of writting this document (June 2004). I began AMOD when i was 13 with another teenager called Chris Mcmath, after he completed MacBeth, a singleplayer map pack.
<br>That was my inspiration to become a modification developer and so began building a team, making maps and models, etc.
<br>Such significant individuals i met up with were Kanachi, Videodrone, Majestic, M|N|0N, Snowfox, BlackOps, and so many more who I just can`t remember. We all had a good time for the most part and enjoyed developing this game.
<br>Production started grinding to a halt when I was 15 as the team lost momentum but we managed to release playable versions which we enjoyed testing.
<br>Two or three years on I have finally decided to pull things together and make a public release, to honour the hard work and commitment placed down by the team.
<br>Please keep in mind this was produced several years ago when I was much younger and less mature. We generally consider the work a bit crap, especially compared to modern game production.

<br>Follow the instructions in the installer to install Project AMOD. 
<br>Activate AMOD using the Custom Games feature in Halflife. 
<br>Start a new game. On easy. Really, nobody can win on hard, you won`t enjoy it. 
<br>Try not to laugh to hard at the bad cutscenes and cheesey voice acting. 
<br>To drop a weapon hit the `G` key. 
<br>Console codes:

<br>Multiplayer
<br>
<br>Multiplayer in AMOD is surprisingly fun. To start a game, just start as you would normally if a HL multiplayer game and choose from deathmath, team play or co-operative mode.
<br>There are alot of very good maps for multiplayer play in thsi release, so start exploring.
<br>Co-operative play does not yet support map changing. Hehe, does not yet support, its never going to support it because this is the only release ever going to be made.
<br>So, the server host has to change maps manually in the console at the end of each level. Check the /maps/ dir for map names.

<br>Finding Your way to the end
<br>
<br>The start of the game is relatively easy to follow however as you start jumping through teleporters and such like, you may wish to consider reading the following info:
<br>If you see a redspaceship, turn arround, go back through the subway and take another door at the tower.
<br>If you see a crashed white spaceship, take a few steps back and go down the stairs and through the door.
<br>If you see a yellow spaceship, go underneath it, stand on the yellow platform and duck.
<br>If the screen says `THE END` you have probably seen most of the game.
<br>
<br>Known Bugs
<br>
<br>What doesn`t work? What does? I`ll be honest, I haven`t done a final run through of the levels but I want some sleep. Things to watch out for are:
<br>
<br>some wierd reloading animation error 
<br>vdrones maps (sorry, my fault) when you find the spacecraft, go in behind it and get on the platform. It will rise and try to crush you. Duck. The darkwall is where the door is. Go through it and enjoy map ala Mars. Also, if you shoot at the US flags long enough, the contarctor will appear and tell you real lifes next weeks lottery numbers.

<br>The year is 1942. The war, only present in Europe and North-Africa becomes a world war as Japan joins. The American forces decide to intervene in the European war, which will become bigger than ever in 1944 with the invasion of France. You are part of a secret commando unit, which was trained for seeking and spying behind enemy lines. In your missions in North Africa, France and Germany you will be on your own and have to act alike. Your mission is, to fulfil your objectives without being detected, which is for your own safety. Many situations can be solved better by cheating, sneaking and sometimes with a well aimed shot as opposed to an offensive assault.

<br>One of the special features of Ops1942 is the Mission Selection System. This allowes mappers to add missions after the game has been released, just by copy and paste. The Ops1942 community will be able to download these new missions at our homepage. Due to this concept players hopefully are much longer interested in this type of SP mod than in normal SP mods.
<br>To realize this idea we developed a special application to start the mod, which is placed in the ../ops1942 folder, called OpsLoader.exe. This Application detect all missions installed in the ../maps folder. By using the navgation and start buttons the player is able to select and start a mission in an easy way.

<br>With increasing intensity the pains in your head and the epileptic seizures you endure along with the alarming waking nightmares of unknown evil beings bring you to the conclusion you must find a cure or die trying, with most of Portown losing control with the disease, you have become the Avatar and the last hope of civilization, but at the same time you are the Reaper of all despair and destruction. The future is in your hands ultimate evil or ultimate salvation. The choice is yours are you up to it?

<br>After going to see your Scientist friends at the Black Mess-up Facility they confirmed you were indeed infected with an Alien Virus and that they had no cure as yet but said that the head of Black Mess-up wanted someone to return to Portown to contain the Virus and as you spread it in the first place you seemed like the most obvious choice.

<br>He also said that if no cure was found then elimination of all suspected contaminants must be completed and you must take the Red Pill (not the white one) when you have completed this mission!
